I haven't played many FPS's besides Halo. Can you compare Shadowrun to anything else so I can decide if I would like to try it or not?

Some elements of UC 2 are incorporated. It is actually a pretty complex and strategic game and very, very, team based. I would recommend you download the demo and see what you think. The 3 training missions only scratch the surface but it gives you an idea as what to expect.
I have heard that is compared to Halo 1 and Counterstrike as well. Watching some vids on MLGPRO make some interesting viewing. I want to play some bots to get my feet wet first though.

I may just have to try the demo like you've said. I've never tried the game, mostly because it is so different than my memory of what Shadowrun started as. It started as a pen and paper game, kind of like Dungeons & Dragons. I only played it once when I was younger but I still remember looking through the books and seeing all of the awesome weapons and abilities. The basics to it was everyone battled over information, information was power. Quests and things were based on obtaining it by hacking or infiltrating organizations. They also had a system where say a regular person had a stat of 6.0. You could get upgrades to your body, such as claws that came out of you hands, or a type of body armor inserted below your skin, or other implants that increased your abilities with a computer. By getting these implants you would lose say 1 point. So now your base stat is down to 5.0. You keep adding implants but the closer you got to 0 the less human you were and the greater chance of insanity. It was a neat idea and the implants they had were great. I don't know if you ever watched the movie Johnny Mnemonic, it wasn't a very good movie but it still kept some of the basics of Shadowrun intact. For example Dolph Lundgren plays a man who has went crazy from too many implants. Back in 1994 it came out on Sega and I remember really liking it. Sure they didn't incorporate every last detail, but the basic premise was there and I enjoyed it. This new one from what I understand is multi player only (beyond playing against bots) but from just what I recall there's no way they can incorporate a lot of what I thought was cool about this franchise. I'm hoping they at least kept some of the ideas based from implants and they had a great weapon selection in the pen and paper version. Maybe I should just get over it and play it for the game it is now. If I like the demo I'll give it a rent this weekend to keep you some company.

Sounds good. Give the demo a try. Remember that it doesn't cover everything like wired. That will give extra speed and the ability to block incoming shots if you have the Katana equiped.
